Joann Schelstraete is a Toronto-based Wardrobe Stylist whose creative approach is backed by decades of design expertise and a love for perfecting every detail to bring any creative vision to life.
Joann has styled more than 100 commercial photo and video shoots over the past couple years alone, working with a wide range of talent from babies and kids to teens and adults. Known for her strong work ethic and fresh energy on set, she thrives on translating creative briefs into polished, camera-ready wardrobe. Her portfolio spans a broad visual range, from modern elevated casualwear to colourful swimwear to bold 80s activewear.
Before focusing on styling, Joann spent many years in senior fashion design and product development roles, designing and developing apparel and accessories while leading creative teams. After graduating from The School of Fashion at TMU (formerly Ryerson University), she launched her own fashion label Zool, which exemplified her personal edgy style. Joann went on to win the designer of the Juno swag bag competition as well as a finalist in the Smirnoff Fashion Awards and Hazelton Designer of the Year. This extensive design background informs her styling work with an instinctive understanding of fit, construction and the power of storytelling through clothing.
In addition to her work on set, Joann teaches both business and fashion courses at post-secondary institutions, sharing her wealth of industry knowledge with the next generation of designers and stylists. She also works in film wardrobe, styling background talent and creating custom garments.
