Billy Hendrickson

Born and raised in Toronto, Billy’s Arts education began at 8 years old joining Claude Watson School For the Performing Arts. Early immersion in all forms of dance from folk to modern, classical music, shakespearean drama, mime and visual arts were all extremely formative experiences in defining his future creative careers.

Graduating from Toronto Metropolitan University’s fashion program in 2005, an unexpected exchange on an editorial set took Billy in a slightly different direction, catapulting him into a very successful career as a session hairstylist for CityTV’s Breakfast Television (Dina Pugliese), MuchMusic’s VJ Search, HGTV’s “Sugar” and “Kitchen Equipped”. After joining the management team at Holt Renfrew Bloor Street’s Salon & Spa, his passions and curiosities led him to explore other creative pursuits including floral design, visual display and education/platform work.

Gaining a second degree & Master’s designation in Political science in 2013, Billy returned to Toronto in 2014 from a brief stint working in the Canadian House of Common’s legislative affairs branch to join the team at LVHM’s(Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) Canadian distributor as Regional Marketing Manager for the Champagnes & Spirits division. Overseeing all creative & brand marketing in Ontario for the world’s leading luxury portfolio (including Ace of Spades Champagnes, Moet & Chandon, Hennessy Cognacs, Belvedere Vodka, Dom Perignon Champagnes and others) he was responsible for bringing to life some of the most luxury driven, high profile, premium and elevated consumer brand experiences in the country. Projects ranged from 100K+ attendee musical festivals or white glove French service dinners to shop-in-shop pop-up builds in Holt Renfrew, e-commerce platforming, in-store display/fixture design & merchandising. Working in luxury demands a level of execution and attention to detail Billy understands intimately; and it leaves room for nothing other than one standard- Excellence.

When asked about his design aesthetic or creative ethos:

“ The most impressive creative skill to me is someone who is able to visually communicate an idea with JUST enough- not too much, not too little, and gets the idea across with elegance, grace, and attitude. A real point of view. THAT to me is what it’s all about. And hey, sometimes TOO MUCH is just enough too . . .but you gotta know when those moments reveal themselves. Also research; I respect and can tell when someone KNOWS where the idea came from and thus knows where and how they’re gonna take it somewhere NEW. Lastly, work ethic- if you’re gonna do it, DO IT WELL.”

“I like the big idea, and I’m always gonna swing for the fences. The editing eye will make it all make sense.”
