Stylist Anya Shor began her career doing low-budget music videos including producing, directing and styling a Bravofact funded piece for herself and a song she wrote entitled “Fearless”. As a former student of Art History and the Royal Conservatory of Music this was a perfect outlet for her to exhibit a wide range of talents and interests, including her love of fashion. The piece brought together 11 Canadian designers and a slew of models in a project Anya felt was an important display of “fashion as art set to music”.
This avenue soon led her in the direction of styling for a vast array of commercial clients from BMW to Nike and working with a number of fashion publications such as Lush, FQ, Nuvo and the Belgian magazine Mens.
Her experience in music videos allowed Anya to style for various established musicians and bands including Buck 65, David Usher and K-OS.
However, the yearning for fashion sent the “fearless” stylist on several pilgrimages to the fashion Mecca of Paris where the self-proclaimed fashion-week-gate-crasher enjoyed the adventures of pursuing her dream to view the collections in person. These experiences were poignantly revealed in a sometimes humorously self-revealing memoir shared with her friends and colleagues.
Anya’s flare for writing was also exhibited in a five page editorial for Lush magazine on the history of the world’s top five perfume brands.
Armed with a fervent passion and deep knowledge for fashion and related arts, not to mention three languages, this ever–evolving chameleon is set to make a great impact on the industry and the world at large.
